As well as our amazing food we exist because of, and for our people.
The people involved in creating your buffets include trained catering professionals who not only lead the way in producing and developing our range of delicious food but they are also instrumental in enabling our volunteers, who will have been affected by poor mental health, to build their skills in this friendly and supportive catering environment. We couldn’t do it without them.
Our volunteers come to Good Mood Food normally via Manchester Mind. They may have struggled with depression, anxiety or psychoses. We work with them to gain trust and confidence and in addition teaching them knowledge about healthy eating and mental wellbeing as well as kitchen and catering skills. Through involvement with Good Mood Food and Manchester Mind volunteers will have access to training and support to build c.v.’s and interview skills.
We love nothing more than when our volunteers move on to work placements or employment as it means we have played a positive part in their lives. For others volunteering with Good Mood Food is about staying well, which sometimes after years of being in and out of hospital and being unwell is also very positive. Through the growth of Good Mood Food we’re able to help more volunteers as well as reinvest in to Manchester Mind.
Sharon is Good Mood Food's Manager, Sharon has worked for Manchester Mind for 14 years and set up Good Mood Food in 2005. Sharon's from Edinburgh and so she's tried to tempt us with a deep fried Mars bar or two over the years! She's spent time training and working at Gleneagles and The Caledonian so knows a few tricks of the trade.
Andrea is our resident yoga guru. She's fully trained up and is now teaching others, she's also vegan so helps to develop our vegan and vegetarian menus.
Darren is Good Mood Food's admin guy and all round superstar. He's likely to be the one on the end of the phone and email. He keeps us all organised which is probably why he needs to do so much Tai Chi outside of work.
